Why is the packaging used for domestic trade not suitable for international logistics transportation?

There are some differences between domestic trade and international logistics and transportation, which leads to the fact that the packaging used in domestic trade may not be suitable for foreign transportation. Xiaoyi summarized some main reasons:

International logistics transportation packaging

1. Transportation distance: International transportation usually requires a longer transportation distance, and the goods may undergo multiple loading, unloading and transshipment. In contrast, domestic trade typically travels shorter distances. Long distances and multiple loads and unloads may increase the risk of cargo being damaged or damaged.

2. Mode of transportation: International transportation usually adopts various modes of transportation, such as shipping, air transportation, railway transportation, etc. These modes of transport can place greater vibration, shock and pressure on goods, requiring more durable and shock-resistant packaging materials.

3. Long-term transportation: International transportation takes a long time, and the goods may stay on the ship or plane for several days or even weeks. This means that the goods need to be better protected in the packaging to prevent humidity, temperature, shock and other factors from adversely affecting the goods.

4. Transportation environment: During international transportation, goods may face different climate, temperature and humidity conditions. Therefore, packaging materials need to be able to withstand these environmental changes to ensure the safety and integrity of the goods.

5. Regulations and standards: There may be differences in packaging requirements and standards for imported goods in different countries and regions. The packaging required for international shipments may need to comply with the regulations and standards of the destination country or region to ensure smooth customs inspection and delivery.

In addition, the packaging materials commonly used in international logistics and transportation mainly include the following types (for reference only)

Wooden Crates: Wooden crates are a more common form of packaging, suitable for heavier, larger or fragile goods. Wooden boxes are strong and durable and can provide high protection performance.

Cardboard Boxes: Cardboard boxes are lightweight, convenient and environmentally friendly packaging options for general cargo. They are usually made of corrugated cardboard, which provides a degree of impact resistance.

Pallets: A pallet is a flat form of packaging, usually made of wood, plastic or metal. The goods can be placed on pallets, which is convenient for loading, unloading and stacking, and it is also convenient for the goods to be handled by forklifts during transportation.

Stretch Wrap: Stretch Wrap is a plastic film used to secure and protect cargo and can be wrapped around pallets or cargo. It provides a degree of protection against dust, moisture and stability.

Air cushion bags (Air Cushions): Air cushion bags are an inflatable packaging material that can be used to fill the gaps between goods and provide cushioning and shockproof effects.

Foam (Foam): Foam can be customized according to the shape and size of the cargo, providing excellent cushioning and shock resistance. It is often used to protect fragile items.

In addition to the above materials, other special packaging materials can also be used according to the characteristics and needs of the goods, such as waterproof film, anti-static bag, cold chain packaging, etc. When choosing packaging materials, factors such as the nature, size, weight, and transportation conditions of the goods need to be considered, and international transportation regulations and standards should be followed.
